Mark (The Bird) Fidrych
American League MVP 1976 Detroit Tigers
Played
5 short years in the majors from 1976-1980. He has a .604 winning percentage. He
is a two-time All-Star and was the 1976 Rookie of the Year. Fidrych was called "The
Bird" for his tall, lean body and unorthodox pitching style.
One of his hobbies now that he's retired is snowmobiling. Last winter he join
the Wertz Warriors, and AMSOIL Dealers Mike Ellis and Tom Kirby, for a good
cause. Each year the Warriors take Special Olympians and kids with disabilities
on a snowmobile ride. It's the ride of their life and one the kids don't soon
forget.
